Bengaluru, Nov 4: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has appealed to companies, hotels, builders, contractors, and other business establishments across the state to provide paid leave to workers from Bihar so they can return home and exercise their franchise in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections on November 6 and 11.
In a letter issued to employers, Shivakumar noted that a large number of Bihari residents are employed in Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka. He urged them to grant at least three days of paid leave, allowing these workers to “actively participate in the election process” and fulfil their democratic duty.

Earlier, while addressing members of the Bihar Association at Coffee Board Layout in North Bengaluru, Shivakumar reiterated his appeal and said the state government would facilitate a three-day holiday for those travelling to Bihar to vote.

He also urged them to support the Mahaghatbandhan alliance, remarking that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s political career was nearing its end and that Tejashwi Yadav had been declared the alliance’s chief ministerial candidate.
Shivakumar added that personal ambition mattered less to him than ensuring that Bihari voters played their part in shaping the state’s future through active participation in the elections.
