EC refutes Rahul Gandhi’s Haryana vote fraud allegations, cites zero complaints from Congress

New Delhi, Nov 5: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused the Election Commission (EC) of allowing large-scale voter fraud in the Haryana Assembly elections. Addressing a press conference, Gandhi released what he called the “H Files,” alleging massive vote theft across the state.

Rahul claimed that “an entire state has been stolen” and suggested the manipulation could be happening both at the state and national levels. Questioning the Election Commission and India’s democratic process, he said, “I am making these allegations with 100 percent proof.”

Displaying documents from his “H Files,” he asserted there was clear evidence that 25 lakh voters in Haryana were fake — either nonexistent or duplicated. “One out of every eight voters in Haryana is fake,” he said.

Election Commission Rejects Allegations

Sources within the Election Commission dismissed the Congress allegations as baseless, asking why the party had not filed a single formal complaint or appeal regarding such alleged irregularities in the voter list.

According to EC sources, no booth-level agent (BLA) or party representative raised objections about duplicate names, deceased voters, or relocated voters during the voter list revision process in Haryana. “Not a single appeal was filed regarding the voter list. If the Congress suspected irregularities, why didn’t their BLAs file objections?” officials questioned.

EC Questions Role of Congress Polling Agents

The Commission further asked what Congress polling agents were doing at the polling booths. “Their duty is to immediately object if a voter has already voted or if there’s doubt about their identity. Why didn’t they act then?” EC sources said.

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s claim that a Brazilian model’s photo was used to cast 22 votes at two polling booths, EC sources countered, “If the same person appeared in multiple lists, why didn’t Congress’s booth-level agents raise objections?” They also took a dig at Rahul Gandhi, asking, “How does he know that the alleged duplicate votes went to the BJP and not to Congress?”

EC Clarifies on Address and Verification Process

The Commission objected to a video shown by Rahul Gandhi in his press conference, clarifying that “House Number Zero” does not imply a fake address. It explained that this tag is used for houses yet to be assigned official numbers by the panchayat or municipality.

The EC also questioned Rahul Gandhi’s stance on the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) process. “Does he support or oppose the SIR process, which aims to remove duplicate, deceased, and relocated voters while also verifying citizenship?” the Commission asked.
