Kanpur, March 7: The Enforcement Directorate conducted raids in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh at the premises of Irfan Solanki, a Samajwadi Party MLA who is currently imprisoned.
Officials reported that authorities also raided the premises of Arshad, the brother of Solanki.
According to sources from the Enforcement Directorate, the properties of the imprisoned four-time MLA from Sisamau and others are being searched under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Was arrested after setting fire to a woman’s house
Since December 2022, Solanki (44) has been incarcerated in the Maharajganj prison in relation to many criminal offences.
Irfan Solanki has been imprisoned for the past year following allegations by a woman that he tried to illegally seize a piece of land.

The MLA and his brother Rizwan were apprehended for purportedly intimidating a woman and setting fire to her residence in an attempt to seize her property. They voluntarily surrendered to the authorities.
Subsequently, the police applied the UP Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act against them and three additional individuals.
Booked under 17 cases
Thus far, there have been 17 cases filed against Solanki.
The MLA is also charged with a number of other cases, including giving Bangladeshi citizens fake Indian citizenship, travelling by plane using a forged Aadhaar card, and land disputes.
Previously, Solanki had submitted a request to participate in voting during the recent Rajya Sabha elections, but the court rejected his application.
