ED interrogates ex-Haryana CM Bhupinder Hooda in land deal case

New Delhi, Jan 17: In relation to a land deal case, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday.

In compliance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the 76-year-old Congress leader’s statement was recorded by the anti-money laundering agency at its New Delhi office.

Farmers defrauded of Rs 1500 crore

The ED’s investigation into the money laundering case is a result of a CBI FIR that was previously filed about alleged irregularities in land acquisition at Manesar between 2004 and 2007, with the alleged cooperation of senior government officials and bureaucrats.

Based on a Haryana Police FIR, the PMLA case was filed in September 2016.

As per the investigating agency, numerous farmers and landowners claimed to have been defrauded in the land acquisition case, amounting to approximately Rs 1,500 crore.
