Ranchi, March 18: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sought prosecution approval from the Jharkhand government against former Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam. He was arrested on May 15, 2024, following an extensive interrogation.

Alamgir Alam’s arrest came after investigators uncovered crucial details during the questioning of Virendra Ram, the then-Chief Engineer of the Rural Development Department. Ram confessed to funneling commissions to Alamgir Alam and other officials in connection with development funds.

During the raids, the ED seized Rs. 32 crore in cash from Jahangir’s premises, which they linked directly to Alamgir Alam. Additionally, documents detailing the collection of commission payments for development schemes were discovered at Sanjeev Lal’s properties.
