Opposition raises Giridih violence issue in Jharkhand Assembly

Ranchi, March 18: During the budget session of the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, the opposition created a ruckus over the Giridih incident, entering the well and raising slogans. As a result, the Speaker had to adjourn the proceedings for an hour.

Babulal Marandi criticizes police action and politics of appeasement

Leader of the Opposition, Babulal Marandi, stated that the incident in their region occurred in a planned manner. He mentioned that when people were moving forward while playing Holi, the police stopped them while miscreants threw stones, and hurled petrol bombs at them. He added that the police remained passive observers.

Marandi criticized the politics of appeasement, stating that it had gone too far. He pointed out that cases were filed against 80 people, with 40 Hindus and 40 Muslims among them. Of the 22 arrested, 11 were Hindus and 11 were Muslims.

He claimed that the Hindus had neither stones nor petrol bombs. He argued that those who tried to disrupt the atmosphere should be charged.

Marandi then insisted on holding a debate on law and order, highlighting that law and order in the state was deteriorating, especially with upcoming events such as Eid, Sarhul, and Ram Navami. He requested that the debate be held instead of the question hour.

Minister Sudivya Sonu claims deliberate attempt to disrupt communal harmony

Minister Sudivya Sonu stated that there was a deliberate attempt to disrupt communal harmony. He questioned who engaged in altercations with the district administration and mentioned that the attempt to divide society in the country started in Uttar Pradesh.

In response, Pradeep Yadav remarked that the BJP has a habit of dividing Hindus and Muslims into two groups for political gain.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Radhakrishna Kishore emphasized that both the ruling and opposition sides tend to be sensitive in such matters. He assured that when the discussion on the Home Department’s budget would take place, the issue would also be addressed. He added that it was not appropriate to politicize such incidents.

Minister Irfan Ansari questions BJP’s role in Giridih incident

Politics in Jharkhand Assembly heated up following the violence in Giridih during Holi. Before the start of the proceedings on Tuesday, Minister Irfan Ansari accused BJP leaders of being involved in the incident in Giridih.

Minister Irfan Ansari also raised questions about the visit of former CM Raghubar Das to Giridih. He stated that Raghubar Das’s visit to the area was provocative and inappropriate. Irfan Ansari warned BJP leaders, asking them not to attempt to disrupt the atmosphere of Jharkhand.

He emphasized that the Hemant Soren government is in power and will not allow any disturbance under any circumstances. He also raised concerns about the police’s handling of the case, saying that the FIR was filed in the manner suggested by BJP leaders, which he found inappropriate.
