Jamshedpur, May 22: In a major crackdown on illegal gambling, police raided a gambling den operating in Ramnagar Gandhi Basti under the Kadma police station area and arrested eight persons.

Cash, mobile phones, playing cards, and other gambling materials were seized during the operation.
Police raid after tip-off
According to police, information was received that a group was involved in large-scale gambling activities in the locality, allegedly cheating local residents and creating fear in the area.

Acting on the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, a special raiding team was formed under the supervision of the City Superintendent of Police.
Following a planned operation, police cordoned off the area and conducted the raid, catching eight persons red-handed while gambling.
Cash, mobile phones and playing cards seized
During the search, police recovered ₹35,520 in cash, seven mobile phones, a full deck of 52 playing cards, and a mat allegedly used for gambling.
The arrested accused have been identified as:
- Rajan Gupta alias Rajan
- Rajesh Kumar Turha alias Badka
- Govinda Kumar Sah
- Deepak Kumar alias Deepu
- Bunty Kumar Gupta
- Lalchand Turha alias Chhanchhan
- Sukhdev Singh
- Lakhan Kumar Thakur alias Azad Thakur
The accused are residents of Sonari, Kadma, and nearby areas of Saraikela district.
Case registered under Gambling Act
Police said a case has been registered under the Gambling Act based on the statement of the Kadma police station officer-in-charge.
Interrogation of the accused is underway, and police are investigating possible links to a larger illegal gambling network operating in the area.
