Zurich, Feb 5: The FIFA World Cup schedule for 2026, which the United States, Canada, and Mexico will jointly host, was officially released.

The tournament’s opening match, featuring the home team, is slated to take place at the historic Estadio Azteca stadium in Mexico City.

The eagerly awaited tournament final will be in New York, New Jersey, on July 19, 2026.

According to FIFA’s official website, 104 matches involving 48 teams will be played across 16 host cities in the aforementioned three countries during the largest edition of the iconic football event.

The number of teams has increased from 32 to 48. On July 12, the other two host countries will begin their World Cup campaigns. Canada will play their first match in Toronto, while the USA will begin their campaign in Los Angeles.

It will signify the third occasion, following 1970 and 1986, that Mexico has hosted the World Cup.

Canada, which has previously hosted FIFA’s women’s and youth-level competitions, including the 2015 Women’s World Cup, will be hosting the FIFA World Cup for the first time ever.

The USA, on the other hand, will host the tournament for the second time, the first being in 1994.

Dallas and Atlanta will host the semifinal match, with Miami serving as the host for the third-place matchup. Dallas, being the host for a total of nine matches, holds the distinction of hosting the highest number of matches among all cities in the tournament.
