Ladakh, June 29: In the Daulat Beg Oldi area of Ladakh, during a military exercise in a river, the water level suddenly rose. The sudden increase in water level caused an army tank to be swept away. Five Indian Army soldiers including one Junior Commissioned Officer and four jawans were inside the tank.
According to reports, five soldiers were swept away in the river’s water during the exercise.
Notably, a tank exercise was being conducted in Daulat Beg Oldi on Friday. During this time, several army tanks were present there.
At around three in the morning, soldiers were being trained to cross the river in tanks near the LAC. Suddenly, the water level in the river rose, causing a strong current, and the tank was swept away. According to reports, five soldiers were inside this tank.
“There were five soldiers in the tank at the time of the incident, including one Junior Commissioner Officer and four Jawans. One person has been located while the search for others is still going on,” defence officials said confirming the incident.
