Four army personnel martyred in terrorist encounter in J&K’s Doda

Doda, July 16: An encounter took place between army personnel and terrorists in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday evening. Five soldiers were seriously injured in this encounter. Four of these soldiers including an officer were martyred on Tuesday morning. All four died during treatment in the hospital.

The soldiers who lost their lives have been identified as Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra, and Sepoy Ajay.

A search operation of army personnel is going on in the area. Indian Army is using a helicopter to conduct a search operation in the forests of Doda.

The terrorist organization Kashmir Tigers has taken responsibility for this attack. This organization is an offshoot of Jaish-e-Mohammed, which had recently taken responsibility for the attack on the army convoy in Kathua.

Officials reported that a joint operation by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir police began on Monday evening after a firefight with terrorists in the Dessa area of the district.

Indian Army, Rajnath Singh express condolences

The Indian Army offered condolences to the families of the soldiers who died in the Doda encounter, affirming their support for the bereaved families during this difficult time.

“General Upendra Dwivedi COAS and all ranks of the Indian Army convey their deepest condolences to the Bravehearts, Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra and Sepoy Ajay, who laid down their lives in the line of duty while undertaking a counter-terrorist operation in Doda to ensure peace in the region. Indian Army stands firm with the bereaved families in this hour of grief,” ADG PI-Indian Army posted on X.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh conveyed his condolences to the families of the soldiers killed in the Doda encounter and mentioned that counter-terrorism operations are in progress.

“Deeply saddened by the loss of our brave and courageous Indian Army soldiers in a counter-terrorism operation in Urrar Baggi, Doda (J&K). My heart goes out to the bereaved families. The nation stands firmly with the families of our soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. The counter-terrorism operations are underway, and our soldiers remain committed to eliminating the scourge of terrorism and restoring peace and order in the region,” the Defence Minister posted on X.
