Amethi, Oct 4: A horrifying incident has emerged from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, where criminals shot dead four members of a family. The assailants broke into the house and killed Sunil Kumar, an assistant teacher, his wife Poonam Bharti, and their two daughters aged two and five. After carrying out the crime, the culprits fled the scene.
Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the spot and sent all four bodies for post-mortem. Later, the bodies were taken to Raebareli under tight security.
The victim’s father has demanded compensation from the government and called for appropriate action against the culprits. He has also questioned the police and administration’s handling of the case.
These four murders may be linked to an incident that occurred on August 18, and the police investigation is now moving in that direction. On August 18, Poonam Bharti was on her way to a hospital with her husband Sunil to take their child for a check-up when a man named Chandan Verma harassed her. He also physically assaulted her and used abusive language.
Poonam Bharti had filed a complaint with the Kotwali police regarding the incident. However, the family alleges that while the police registered the case, no action was taken. Chandan Verma remains at large.
