Gurugram, March 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 112 significant National Highway projects across the nation, totalling approximately Rs one lakh crore in value.
He also held a roadshow in Gurugram on Monday during his visit to the city in Haryana.
PM Modi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar examined the Dwarka Expressway just prior to the event.
Haryana portion of Dwarka Expressway
The Prime Minister inaugurated the Haryana portion of the significant Dwarka Expressway in an effort to facilitate better traffic flow and reduce congestion on NH-48 between Delhi and Gurugram.
The construction of the 19-kilometre Haryana segment of the 8-lane Dwarka Expressway, which spans two packages of 10.2 km from the Delhi-Haryana Border to Basai Rail-over-Bridge (ROB) and 8.7 km from Basai ROB to Kherki Daula, cost around Rs. 4,100 crore. Additionally, it will offer direct access to the Gurugram Bypass and Delhi’s IGI Airport.

Numerous projects across various states inaugurated
The Prime Minister also inaugurated 42 other major projects totalling Rs. 20,500 crores in various states across the nation, in addition to the 9.6 km long, six-lane Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II)-Package 3 from Nangloi – Najafgarh Road to Sector 24 Dwarka section in Delhi; three packages of the Lucknow Ring Road developed at a cost of approximately Rs. 4,600 crores in Uttar Pradesh; the Anandapuram – Pendurthi – Anakapalli section of NH16 developed at a cost of approximately Rs. 2,950 crores in the state of Andhra Pradesh; the Kiratpur to Nerchowk section of NH-21 (2 packages) worth approximately Rs. 3,400 crores in Himachal Pradesh; the Dobaspet – Heskote section (two packages) worth Rs. 2,750 crores in Karnataka; and the Kiratpur to Nerchowk section of NH-21 worth approximately Rs. 2,950 crores in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Foundation laid for several projects across the nation
Additionally, the prime minister laid the foundation for a number of national highway projects around the nation including 39 projects worth Rs. 32,700 crores in various states throughout the nation.
Apart from these projects, the major projects for which the foundation stone was laid are: 14 packages of the Bengaluru-Kadappa-Vijayawada Expressway worth Rs. 14,000 crores in Andhra Pradesh; six packages of the Belgaum-Hungund-Raichur Section of NH-748A worth Rs. 8,000 crores in Karnataka; three packages of the Shamli-Ambala Highway worth Rs. 4,900 crores in Haryana; two packages of the Amritsar-Bathia corridor worth Rs. 3,800 crores in Punjab.
