PINAKI MAJUMDAR
Jamshedpur, April 27: Jharkhand is set to experience unstable weather over the next few days, with a mix of high temperatures, scattered rainfall, and approaching thunderstorms, accompanied by strong winds and possible hail.

Recent meteorological data show that Daltonganj recorded the highest temperature at 44.9°C, well above normal. Ranchi registered 40.2°C, while Chaibasa recorded 42.4°C. Jamshedpur remained relatively lower at 37.5°C, though high minimum temperatures across the state have added to public discomfort.
Uneven Rainfall, Rising Humidity
Rainfall activity has remained limited over the past 24 hours, with most areas receiving little to no rain. Seasonal data since March 1 shows uneven distribution, with Bokaro recording the highest rainfall at 128 mm, while Daltonganj received only 29.4 mm.

Humidity levels have fluctuated sharply, with Ranchi recording highs of 89% and lows of 36%, indicating increasingly humid conditions that could trigger storm activity.
Rain, Thunderstorm Forecast Till May 4
The weather forecast for Jharkhand until the morning of May 4 indicates partly cloudy skies with chances of light to moderate rain or thunderstorms at isolated to a few places.
Meteorologists have predicted a gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 3–5°C over the next five days, which may bring some relief from the ongoing heatwave.

Hailstorm, Lightning and Strong Wind Alert
Despite the expected drop in temperatures, authorities have issued a seven-day alert warning of thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds ranging between 40–60 kmph in several districts.
On April 27, the north-eastern and central parts of the state are particularly at risk of hailstorms and strong winds.
In the following days, southern and central regions are likely to experience repeated thunderstorm activity, while other areas may see intermittent lightning and gusty winds.
By April 30, another spell of hailstorms is expected in north-eastern and central Jharkhand, with storm activity continuing into early May.
Public Advisory
Residents have been advised to remain alert during thunderstorms, as sudden lightning strikes and strong winds may pose risks to life and property.
The current weather pattern indicates the onset of pre-monsoon activity in Jharkhand, bringing a mix of relief from heat and potential weather hazards.
