Heavy Rain Alert: All schools in Ranchi to remain closed on June 20

THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Ranchi, June 19: In response to a red alert for heavy rainfall, all government and private schools in Ranchi will remain closed on Thursday. The directive was issued by the Ranchi Deputy Commissioner and applies to all institutions, including government, private, non-governmental, and minority-run schools, from Kindergarten to Class 12.

The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional centre in Ranchi has issued a special bulletin forecasting intense rainfall across the district through June 21. Ranchi has been categorised under the ‘Red Zone’, indicating a high likelihood of severe weather.

Authorities have emphasised that the order is mandatory. Any institution found in violation will face legal action under the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
