Heavy rain, thunderstorms forecast for Jharkhand till month-end

Jamshedpur, July 29: The monsoon remained active across Jharkhand on Tuesday, with widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms reported from several parts of the state.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of continued thunderstorm activity, gusty winds, and heavy showers at isolated locations over the next three days.

July 29: Thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in the north-eastern parts of the state.

July 30: Similar conditions will persist, with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds forecast across isolated areas.

July 31: Thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by gusty winds, will continue at isolated places.

Current Weather Conditions

A well-marked low-pressure area lies over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining regions. Associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 Km above the mean sea level and is likely to move westwards.

A trough runs from this system across northeast Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and north Gangetic West Bengal, influencing the monsoon activity in the state.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently passes through Bikaner, Kota, northwest Madhya Pradesh, Daltonganj, Digha, and then southeastward into the Bay of Bengal.

IMD officials have urged residents, particularly in north-eastern districts, to remain alert for possible lightning strikes, localized flooding, and strong winds during this active monsoon phase.
