New Delhi, Feb 22: Maintaining its position from the previous year, the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) is once again named as the world’s top cooperative out of the top 300 cooperatives. The ratio of turnover to GDP (gross domestic product) per capita is used to determine rankings.
The ranking demonstrates IFFCO’s considerable contribution to the country’s GDP and economic expansion. According to the 2023 edition of the 12th Annual World Cooperative Monitor (WCM) report released by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), it connects the enterprise’s turnover to the nation’s wealth.
In the rating of overall turnover, IFFCO has also improved, moving up to the 72nd spot from the 97th spot in the previous fiscal year.
IFFCO is a testament to the success that cooperatives may bring, together with its 35,500 cooperative societies, 25,000 PACS, and 52,400 PMKSK centres working toward ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Krishi.’

IFFCO MD Dr Uday Shankar Awasthi
IFFCO Managing Director Dr Uday Shankar Awasthi commented on holding the top spot for two years in a row, saying, “It is a proud moment for us at IFFCO and the Indian Cooperative Movement as well. At IFFCO, we are always committed to the mission of increasing farmers’ income, ensuring the wholesome growth of farmers across the nation, and strengthening the cooperative movement.”
“We believe in innovation as it is the key to success. That is why we are introducing nanotechnology-based solutions for agriculture, especially alternative fertilizers, beginning with IFFCO Nano Urea Liquid, which has been received very well by Indian farmers. Later, IFFCO launched IFFCO Nano DAP, which was recently mentioned in the Annual Budget of the Government of India. I congratulate each and every one at IFFCO and the entire cooperative fraternity of the country for this momentous achievement,” IFFCO MD Awasthi added.
