IIM Ranchi hosts three-day Research Scholars’ Day 2025

 

Ranchi, Oct 13: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi organised its Research Scholars’ Day 2025 on the theme “The Pracademic Edge: Turning Research into Real World Results.”

The three-day event brought together doctoral scholars, faculty, and alumni to showcase research that connects academic excellence with practical relevance.

The event began with a welcome address by Prof. Manish Bansal, chairperson, Doctoral Programme, who commended the scholars’ commitment and outlined key activities like the One-Slide Three-Minute Challenge, Infographic Explainer, and Full Paper Presentation.

He also highlighted the presence of alumni from the PhD and Executive PhD programmes, underscoring IIM Ranchi’s expanding research network.

Prof. Aditya Shankar Mishra, Editor of the IIM Ranchi Journal of Management Studies (IRJMS), spoke about the growing influence of IIM Ranchi’s research, noting that its publications have been downloaded over 1.2 lakh times across 40 plus countries.

He emphasized the importance of producing research that is “locally relevant but globally impactful.”

In his address, Prof. Deepak Srivastava, Director, IIM Ranchi, highlighted the need for research awareness among scholars, stating that once internalized, it leads to transformative outcomes.

He noted that IIM Ranchi has contributed over 180 research papers aligned with the UNDP’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflecting its commitment to responsible and sustainable research.

The chief guest, Charan Singh, CEO of EGROW Foundation and former chairperson of Punjab & Sind Bank, described research scholars as the “soldiers of academia.”

Drawing from his own experience, he underlined perseverance, time management, and integrity as vital traits of a successful researcher.

He shared four guiding principles for effective research—policy orientation, reliability, purpose, and objectivity—urging scholars to contribute to ‘Viksit Bharat’ through meaningful research.

The event concluded with an alumni panel discussion and an award ceremony.

Ankit Kumar Sinha won the Best Full Paper Presentation, Nistala Jagannath Sharma emerged victorious in the One-Slide Three-Minute Challenge, and Ramyani Kundu took home the award for Infographic Explainers Competition.
