Jamshedpur, August 11: The Indian Institute of Management Ranchi has welcomed the sixth batch of its five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM), with 62 young management aspirants beginning their academic journey for the 2026–31 session.
The new cohort has a notable gender profile, with women accounting for 71 per cent of the batch.
Induction blends academics with experiential learning
The week-long induction programme combined academic orientation with a range of experiential and team-based activities designed to help students develop collaboration, communication and leadership skills.
Students participated in case competitions, presentations, Business Feud, Marketing Roulette, jamming sessions, Human Library, Human Connect, sports events, a service kiosk, treasure hunt and a dance competition.
The activities gave the new entrants an opportunity to interact beyond the classroom, work in teams, identify their individual strengths and gain an early understanding of the collaborative environment at IIM Ranchi.

IIM Ranchi director stresses human-centric management
The formal inauguration of the new cohort was held on Monday, with IIM Ranchi Director Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava addressing the students.
Prof. Srivastava urged the students to cultivate a positive outlook, develop social intelligence and take ownership of the choices they make during their academic and professional journeys.
Emphasising that management is ultimately about people, he said efficient systems need to be supported by strong support structures and a human touch.
He encouraged the students to make full use of their time at IIM Ranchi and develop a global perspective by engaging with the institute’s international pedagogy and diverse academic outlook.
The Director also highlighted the role played by the IPM programme in strengthening IIM Ranchi’s institutional legacy, including initiatives such as the Young Changemakers Programme (YCP). He called upon the new students to contribute to this legacy and reminded them that even small individual actions can create a wider social impact.
Focus on holistic and multidimensional growth
Prof. Srivastava also underlined the importance of developing students in multiple dimensions through the concept of Bahumukh Vikaso Gantavya.
He encouraged the cohort to develop the intellectual ability and perspective needed to navigate challenges, while stressing that education gains real value when knowledge is translated into meaningful action.
Leadership coach Nathan S V shares career lessons
The inaugural programme also featured Nathan S V, leadership coach and mentor and former Country Leader, PwC Acceleration Centres India, as the guest speaker.
Drawing on his professional experience, Nathan encouraged students to take responsibility for shaping their own lives, remain focused on their aspirations and find purpose and fulfilment along the way.
He urged the students to remain present, make the most of opportunities and understand that seemingly small decisions and actions can produce a significant impact over time.
Emphasising honesty, humility and a strong work ethic, he said these qualities form the foundation of authentic leadership.
Nathan also encouraged the students to remain lifelong learners, stay receptive to new experiences and consciously shape both their professional and personal journeys.
Five-year journey begins
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Raveesh Krishnankutty, Chairperson, IPM, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, staff, students and parents for supporting the beginning of the new cohort.
The induction of the sixth IPM batch marks the start of a five-year programme aimed at combining management education with leadership development, social intelligence, global exposure and holistic learning.
