Dhanbad, Oct 17: The Centre for Industry and Innovation Entrepreneurship (CIIE) at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Foundation has joined hands with Zenith Unmanned Systems Pvt. Ltd. to develop cutting-edge indigenous innovations in defence technology.

Speaking on the partnership, Prof. Alok Kumar Das, Dean of Industry & Innovation Entrepreneurship (IIE) at IIT (ISM), said, “This collaboration reflects our strong commitment to translating academic and technological innovation into tangible national impact.”

Development of AI-Powered Kamikaze Drones

The partnership focuses on accelerating research, development, and deployment of AI-enabled, stealth-oriented kamikaze drone systems tailored for tactical defence applications.

These drones, designed with a fixed-wing stealth configuration, aim to minimize radar detection while enhancing operational agility and precision.

Integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), the drones are capable of autonomous mission planning, swarm coordination, and high-accuracy target engagement across diverse terrains.

“Make in India” and Strategic Autonomy

Developed under the “Make in India” initiative, the drone systems are lightweight, cost-effective, and modular, ensuring ease of assembly, rapid deployment, and reduced dependence on foreign components. This initiative is a key step toward advancing India’s defence self-reliance and strategic autonomy.

Prof. Das added, “Through CIIE IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Foundation, we are empowering startups like Zenith Unmanned Systems to push the frontiers of indigenous defence technology and contribute meaningfully to India’s strategic autonomy.”
