Dhanbad, Nov 26: The delegation from IIT ISM Dhanbad, led by Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra, emerged as a highlight at the Industry-Academic Conference 2024 held at NIT Jamshedpur.
The conference saw the participation of prominent technical and academic institutions, including IIT BHU, IIT Bhilai, IIT Patna, as well as leading industry giants such as National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Tata Steel, and Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).
Over the two-day event, a series of panel discussions took place, focusing on the importance of industry-academia collaboration in fostering innovation and advancing research. The discussions underscored the value of partnerships between academic institutions and the corporate sector.

IIT ISM’s showcase and recognition
IIT ISM stood out by showcasing its world-class research facilities at the conference, which attracted significant attention from industry representatives.
“The institute’s commitment to fostering collaboration between academia and industry was further recognized when event organizers presented a memento to the IIT (ISM) delegation,” said an official.
IIT ISM Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra shared valuable insights into the critical role of industry-academia partnerships in driving technological advancements and enhancing research capabilities. Deputy Director of IIT ISM, Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, also participated in a panel discussion, offering his perspectives on the subject.
The IIT ISM delegation also included senior faculty members: Prof. Sagar Pal, Dean of Research & Development; Prof. A.R. Dixit, Dean of Infrastructure; Prof. Alok Das, Dean of Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (IIE); Prof. S. Das; and Ashish Kumar.
