Dhanbad, January 20: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) ISM Dhanbad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Climitra Carbon Private Limited, New Delhi, to collaborate on research and development in clean energy technologies.

The MoU was signed in the presence of representatives from Climitra Carbon, including Shaurya Sharma and Aryaman Mihir Seth. Senior officials from IIT ISM Dhanbad present on the occasion included Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Deputy Director Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Dean (R&D) Prof. Parthasarathi Das, Prof. Shalini Gautam, and Dr. Amrit Ana.
Focus on Sustainable Carbon Materials and Clean Energy Systems
An official statement said the collaboration aims to strengthen research and technology development in the areas of sustainable carbon materials and clean energy systems.

The MoU focuses on jointly advancing research on biomass-based carbon materials, biochar, syngas, gasification-based fuel systems, and waste-to-energy technologies. These research areas are particularly relevant to metallurgical, thermal, and other industrial energy sectors.
Lab-to-Pilot Scale Technology Development
Under the collaboration, IIT ISM Dhanbad and Climitra Carbon will work together on laboratory-to-pilot-scale research, technology development, and process optimisation. The objective is to convert biomass and waste resources into high-value carbon materials and clean energy products.
Joint Research and Industrial Applications
Key areas of cooperation include biomass utilisation, biochar development, gasification pathways, and waste-to-energy conversion systems. The partnership aims to support scalable, low-emission alternatives for industrial applications.
The MoU also envisages joint technology development initiatives, techno-economic assessments, and research publications, helping translate scientific research into practical and implementable solutions for industry and society.
