Ranchi, April 14: A nine-member delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar at Lok Bhawan in Ranchi on Tuesday, demanding a CBI inquiry into the alleged paper leak in the Excise Constable examination conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

The delegation submitted a memorandum highlighting a seven-point charter of demands and raised concerns over alleged irregularities in JSSC and Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examinations.

The delegation included state president Aditya Sahu, Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi, organisation general secretary Karmveer Singh, vice presidents Rakesh Prasad, Bhanu Pratap Shahi and Balmukund Sahay, chief whip Naveen Jaiswal, MLA C.P. Singh, and spokesperson Amit Mandal.

Allegations of large-scale irregularities

According to the memorandum, the alleged paper leak occurred during the Excise Constable examination held on April 12, 2026. The BJP claimed that an “examination mafia” was operating from a building in Tamar, where candidates were allegedly trained to memorise answers.

Over 150 people have reportedly been arrested in connection with the case. Items such as computers, laptops, printers, suspected question papers, and vehicles were seized. It was also alleged that candidates’ mobile phones and admit cards were taken, and deals of up to ₹15 lakh per candidate were made.

The examination was conducted for 583 posts across 370 centres in eight districts, with over 1.48 lakh candidates appearing. The BJP expressed concern that similar irregularities may have occurred at other centres as well.

Demand for CBI probe and reforms

The party criticised the JSSC for denying any paper leak despite the arrests and evidence. It alleged a pattern of examination irregularities in the state, including past controversies involving JPSC and JSSC exams.

In its memorandum, the BJP demanded a CBI probe into the current paper leak as well as previous major examinations over the past six years. It also called for an investigation into links between alleged solver gangs, the examination agency, and officials.

The party further demanded strict action against those responsible, justice for affected candidates, and comprehensive reforms to ensure transparency and prevent such incidents in future.
