Dhanbad, February 20: A three-day Executive Development Programme (EDP) on Working Capital Management of Power Projects concluded at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad on Saturday.

The programme was organised by the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad in collaboration with National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited (NHPC Ltd.).

Focus on Advanced Financial Practices

Senior finance professionals from NHPC Ltd., including senior managers, group senior managers and deputy general managers, participated in the training. The sessions focused on advanced approaches to working capital management in hydroelectric power projects.

Designed as an intensive capacity-building initiative, the programme combined conceptual learning with practical analytical tools relevant to large-scale infrastructure projects.

Hands-On Training in Simulation Tools

Participants received practical exposure to Monte Carlo Simulation and Discrete Event Simulation (DES) using Arena software. The training enabled them to model project uncertainties, optimise resource allocation and strengthen evidence-based financial decision-making.

Programme coordinator Prof Niladri Das welcomed the participants and highlighted the long-standing collaboration between IIT (ISM) and NHPC Ltd. He noted that the department has been conducting specialised executive programmes for NHPC since 2009.

Prof Rashmi Singh emphasised the increasing importance of effective working capital management supported by advanced simulation tools. She said such initiatives help enhance operational efficiency and promote sustainable financial practices in hydroelectric projects.
