Pakistan opened the scoring with Ahmad Nadeem’s goal in the 8th minute, but Harmanpreet Singh responded by converting two penalty corners (13th, 19th), guiding India to victory. This defeat marked Pakistan’s first loss in the tournament.
Both India and Pakistan have secured their spots in the semifinals. Additionally, the win also helped India to continue their unbeaten streak against Pakistan since 2016.
In their last encounter at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year, India defeated Pakistan 10-2. A few months earlier, India had also won 4-0 against Pakistan during the Chennai edition of the Asian Champions Trophy.
