Nassau, May 6: At the World Athletics Relays held in Nassau, Bahamas on Monday, the Indian women’s and men’s 4×400-meter relay teams qualified for the Paris Olympics on Monday by finishing second in their respective second-round heats.
Jamaica (3:28.54) emerged victorious in the first heat of the women’s competition, while Subha Venkatesan, M R Poovamma, Jyothika Sri Dandi, and Rupal Chaudhary secured the second position and gained entry to the Paris Games.

Only the USA (2:59.95) finished ahead of the men’s team, which consists of Muhammad Anas Yahiya, Muhammad Ajmal, Arokia Rajiv, and Amoj Jacob. They placed second in their heat with a cumulative time of 3 minutes and 3.23 seconds.
The top two teams from each of the three heats in the second round will progress to the Olympics scheduled to be held from July 26 to August 11.
This brings the total number of track and field competitors representing India in the Paris Olympics to 19.
