Imphal, September 10: Due to recent violence in Manipur, the state government has enforced a ban on internet services beginning Tuesday.
The Manipur government’s orders specify that the internet ban will remain in effect until September 15.
In a notice released on Tuesday, the Manipur government stated that the internet ban aims to prevent the dissemination of misinformation and false rumours via social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

The notice announces a five-day suspension of all internet and mobile data services in Manipur, from 3:00 PM on September 10, 2024, to 3:00 PM on September 15, 2024, to prevent disruptions and maintain public order.
The notice highlighted the imminent threat of loss of life, damage to property, and disruption of public peace and communal harmony due to inflammatory content and false rumours potentially spread via social media, messaging services, SMS, and dongles.
