Jamshedpur gears up for grand Republic Day 2026 celebrations

Jamshedpur, January 6: Preparations for the district-level Republic Day celebrations, 2026, in Jamshedpur have officially begun, with the administration focusing on grandeur, discipline and smooth coordination.

Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi, a high-level preparatory meeting was held at the Collectorate conference hall to finalise arrangements for the national event.

Senior Officials Review Preparations

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Development Commissioner Nagendra Paswan and attended by senior officials, including SDM Dhalbhum Arnav Mishra and Civil Surgeon Dr Sahir Pal.

Flag Hoisting at Gopal Maidan

It was announced that the district-level Republic Day function will be held at Gopal Maidan, Bistupur, where the national flag will be hoisted at 9:05 am.

The Deputy Development Commissioner instructed all departments to complete arrangements well in advance, ensuring strict adherence to timelines and effective inter-departmental coordination.

Eight Platoons to Take Part in Parade

The ceremonial parade will feature eight platoons, including one platoon of JAP-6, two platoons of the district police, one platoon of Home Guards, two platoons of NCC (boys and girls), and two platoons of Scouts and Guides.

Parade rehearsals will be held on January 20 and 21 at Police Lines, Golmuri, followed by practice sessions at Gopal Maidan on January 22. A full-dress rehearsal will take place on January 24, to be jointly inspected by the Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police.

Cultural Evening on January 25

To add a cultural touch, a cultural evening will be organised on January 25 at Town Hall, Sidhgora, where school students from across the district will present patriotic songs, dances and performances.

Civic Arrangements and Cleanliness Drive

The administration has directed flag hoisting at all government offices, floral tributes at statues of national icons, and cleanliness drives at monuments of national importance.

The urban body JNAC has been asked to coordinate with Jusco management to ensure proper sanitation, seating arrangements, ambulance services, fire safety and other essential facilities at the main venue.

With meticulous planning underway, the district administration aims to ensure that Republic Day 2026 in Jamshedpur is celebrated with dignity, patriotic fervour and flawless execution.
