According to the police, the seized ganja had been transported from Odisha and was allegedly being routed to Bihar and Varanasi through an interstate trafficking network.

The operation was launched after Sitaramdera police received a tip-off around 8.15 pm on Sunday. Acting on the information, a special raiding team was formed under the direction of the Senior Superintendent of Police.

Investigators are trying to trace the supplier in Odisha, the handlers responsible for transporting the consignment to Bihar and Varanasi, and other members of the suspected interstate racket.

Officials are also probing whether Jamshedpur was being used as a transit hub for smuggling ganja to different parts of the country. Police said further arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
