Dhanbad, Feb 2: The three–day annual socio-cultural fest of IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad’ Srijan’ began on the campus on Friday morning.

The organisers said on the first day, cultural events were held in which dancers, vocalists, dramatists, and budding technocrats showcased their talent.

New Lecture Hall Complex
The day began at the New Lecture Hall Complex of the institute with the eight members of the students’ club, art freaks, splashing colours with a brush on a vast canvas, creating a live painting.

Supreeth, the coordinator of the live painting event, said that the giant painting being made by club members would be put on display before the Heritage Building of the institute to allow spectators to witness the magic of artistic expression unfolding in real-time.

Debate competition
Two other events, including ‘Fotorush’ meant to catch the photographs of the campus and a debate competition in which the participants dived into rounds of riveting discussions held at New Lecture Hall Complex (NLHC).

Group dance
A group dance of students on popular Bollywood and Hollywood, Eka Abhinay, was held at the Golden Jubilee Lecture Theatre of the institute. The students showed their theatric skills by staging One Act Play dramas.
The day also witnessed a host of other events: Foltwist, held at the new academic complex auditorium, band performance held at open-air theatre, quiz competition’s get Quizzical held at Penman Auditorium, and adaptation showcase- organised by Book Club.

Day 1 of the fest is scheduled to conclude at around 7 p.m. with the performance of Mumbai-based singer, guitarist and songwriter Nikhil D’Souza.
Penman Auditorium
Earlier yesterday evening, Prof JK Pattanayak, officiating director of IIT (ISM), inaugurated the event at Penman Auditorium in the presence of Prof AR Dixit, Dean (Infra); Prof Alok Das, Dean (IIE); Prof Sanjoy Mandal, Associate Dean (SW-Student activities) and registrar, Prabodh Pandey.
