Dhanbad, Jan 2: In a special drive launched by Dhanbad Rail Division on the 1st day of New Year at different railway stations, 823 passengers were fined over Rs 3 lakh.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr DCM) Amresh Kumar, giving this information today, said that a special ticket-checking campaign in different express and mail trains was carried out at Gomoh, Koderma, Doltonganj, Chopan, Barkakana and Singrouli stations under Dhanbad Rail Division from morning to late evening.

“Altogether, 823 passengers were caught travelling illegally, and a fine of Rs 3 lakh was imposed on them. Besides, without a ticket, some passengers were also fined for travelling with unbooked luggage,” said the Sr DCM.
Amresh Kumar said that the special checking campaign was launched on the directive of Divisional Rail Manager (DRM) Kamal Kishore Sinha. A total of 133 personnel were engaged in the special campaign.
“The main motive of the checking drive was to encourage passenger travel with valid tickets and increase the sale of tickets at the counter,” said the Sr DCM.
