Dhanbad Dec 13: The Alumni of BIT Sindri residing in different parts of the country and abroad will organize 75 events around the year to mark the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the institution.
Newly elected secretary of the BIT Alumni Association (mother chapter) Sweta Kumari, DIG Registration Jharkhand, said that the alumni body has resolved to organize 75 special events at all levels to make the Diamond Jubilee celebration memorable at national as well as international level.
43 BIT Sindri Alumni Association
“There are 43 BIT Sindri Alumni Association chapters in different cities of the country and 10 chapters working in different countries, especially in the USA, Canada, UK and others. Each chapter would hold 75 different events of their choice for the celebration,” said Sweta Kumari.

BIT Sindri was set up in 1949. The institution has been celebrating its Diamond Jubilee celebration since November 26. Though the institution is organizing a series of academic activities including a national–international seminar under the guidance of Director Dr Pankaj Rai and HoDs of different faculties, the Alumni Association is celebrating at its level.
Besides organizing functions, the BIT Alumni Association members holding various coveted posts in different institutions in the country and abroad have also come up to help with infrastructure.
Scholarship for techies
Jamshedpur Chapter of Association members Pawan Ojha, Amit Roy, Atul Roy, Anil Roy, and SS Raman have selected 8 girl engineering students for scholarship round the year. USA-based alumni SN Sharma has announced to give Rs 1 crore for the development of the chemical engineering department while another alumni presented a tractor to the institution.

Last week under their silver Jubilee programme, the 1994- 1998 batch alumni members funded the campus-based canteen for developing into advanced infrastructure.
“For developing advanced infrastructure and academic activities, the Alumni Association members would extend full cooperation to the institution,” said Sweta Kumari.
