Jharkhand: BIT Sindri bids farewell to senior faculty member Prof Pandey

Dhanbad January 31: BIT Sindri faculty members, students and employees today gave an impressive farewell to one of the senior teachers, Prof (Dr) Vikrama Pandey of the civil engineering department, who retired today after giving 40 years of service to the institution in making it top among engineering colleges in the country.

Prof Pandey joined BIT Sindri on September 3, 1984 and retired today. During his distinguished tenure, Prof Vikrama Pandey served twice as the head of the Civil Department, from 1987 to 1999 and 2004 to 2014.

He served as the professor in charge of the Sports Club of BIT Sindri and Gandhi Rachnatmak Samiti (GRS), a cultural organization for engineering students.

BIT Sindri director Prof Pankaj Rai felicitated Dr Pandey in the farewell function. They recalled his 40 years of contribution in shaping the institution and students to achieve the mission of the desired result.

The Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Dr Jitu Kujur, also gave a heartfelt memento to Prof. Pandey, acknowledging his contributions to the department. Prof. (Dr.) U K Singh and Prof. P K Sharma also felicitated and recalled the contribution of Dr Pandey.

Dr Pandey, on the occasion, shared his 40 years of experiences and memories at BIT Sindri with his colleagues and others there.

Dr. Maya Rajnarayan Ray, Dr. B. D. Yadav, Dr Komal Kumari, Prof. Nipen Kumar Das, Prof. Prakash Kumar Orang, Prof. Iqbal Shaikh, Prof. Saroj Meena and Prof. Prashant Ranjan Malviya also highly appreciated Dr Pandey’s contribution to the civil engineering department and the institution and expressed my best wishes to him.

The farewell ceremony concluded with a sense of nostalgia, marking the end of an era while celebrating the indelible impact of Prof.(Dr) Vikrama Pandey.

Prof. Malviya conducted the function. Adarsh Kumar and other students of the civil engineering department were present in large numbers at the farewell function.
