Ranchi, Sept. 11: Jharkhand BJP president Babulal Marandi today shot off a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren seeking a high-level probe into the mysterious deaths of at least 10 persons from the Paharia community.

Seeking strict actions against erring doctors/hospitals, Marandi has pointed out that the condition of health services in the state is getting worse day by day.

“Every day, brothers and sisters of the tribals, especially the extinct primitive tribal society, are dying due to lack of treatment, but instead of taking responsibility, the administration is blaming each other,” he added.

He cited a recent incident in Sahibganj Sadar Hospital where Gomdi Pahadin, the six-year-old daughter of primitive tribal Pahadia Mathiyam Malto, a resident of Simaria village, who was suffering from dengue, lost her life due to lack of treatment.

“Her father kept running from emergency to OPD in search of doctors, but could not find any doctor anywhere, due to which the girl died in the lap of the father,” he said.

Eight persons die in Jamtara

Marandi maintained that this is not just one incident. “Another such incident happened in Kunda Pahadi village of Gopikandar block of Dumka district where 19-year-old pregnant woman Princessa Maharani of endangered Pahadia tribe lost her life due to not getting ambulance and treatment on time. The third incident is in Nenagaratand village of Karmatand block of Jamtara district where 8 members of the primitive tribe (Pahadia) family have died in the last 22 days due to unknown disease,” he pointed out.

He said more than 10 people are still suffering from different diseases.

“Due to lack of timely treatment in Jharkhand, people of the state are losing their lives every day. The health department of Jharkhand is completely involved in looting and is affecting the health services by giving desired postings to doctors by taking money. Patients are not able to get treatment due to the lack of posting of doctors at far-flung health centres,” he signed off.
