Ranchi, January 24: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today said that Azim Premji Foundation is a trustworthy institution.
“The foundation will build a world-class Azim Premji University, a 500-bed medical college and school in Itki. The institute is investing Rs 5,000 crore. In the coming times, Itki will have a different identity in the country,” he said.
Inaugurating a programme of construction of world-class Azim Premji University, organised at TB Sanatorium Ground, Itki, Soren said teaching work will start in the University and School by 2026.
“The light of the work being done by the Azim Premji Foundation will reach far and wide. The Foundation’s work to assist the weakest families will be done with commitment,” he added.
Azim Premji Foundation known for social concern
Soren said that the Azim Premji Foundation Institute is a name known by the world. “The Foundation is not known for business but for social concern. This institute is providing better education and health facilities to the people standing at the last rung of society. This institute has a deep connection with social concerns,” he said.
The chief minister said that the state government coordinated better with the representatives of the Azim Premji Foundation. “If the institute wanted, it could have set up this project in any other state, but the CEO of the institute, Anurag Behar, has chosen Itki for the project keeping in mind the policy and commitment of the state government,” he said.

Keeping in mind the needs of the Azim Premji Foundation and other requirements, the state government worked to complete all the work at the government level within the stipulated time, he said.

On this occasion, talks occurred between Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Azimji Premji through video conferencing.
Addressing him through a virtual medium, the chief minister said that with his cooperation the inauguration work of construction of Azim Premji Foundation, Azim Premji University, Medical College and School has been completed in Itki.
The chief minister said that by coordinating with the State Government and his organisation, the vision of taking the Foundation forward in a remote rural area like Itki seems to be coming true today.
“He has full confidence that this university, medical college and school to be established in Itki in the field of education and health will prove to be a milestone in the development of the state,” Soren said.

On this occasion, Azim Premji also told the chief minister that the Foundation will contribute its total contribution to the development of the state by establishing better coordination with the state government.
On this occasion, MP Sudarshan Bhagat, former MLA Bandhu Tirkey, Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Arun Ekka, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey, Principal Secretary, HRD, Rahul Purwar, CEO of Azim Premji Foundation Anurag Behar and other officials of the state government, and representatives of Azim Premji Foundation and a large number of villagers were present.
