Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren hands appointment letters to 1,042 teachers

Ranchi, June 29: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday distributed appointment letters to 1,042 newly selected Intermediate and Graduate-trained Assistant Teachers, asking them to view their jobs as a mission to shape Jharkhand’s future rather than merely secure government employment.

Addressing the appointment letter distribution ceremony at Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium, Khelgaon, Soren said the state had entrusted the new recruits with the responsibility of transforming education, particularly in remote and rural areas.

‘You Are the State’s Intellectual Assets’

“It is now up to all of you to determine the future trajectory of the state’s intellectual landscape,” the Chief Minister said.

“The government has entrusted you not merely with a job, but with the vital responsibility of shaping the future of the next generation,” he told the newly appointed teachers, adding that their knowledge, conduct and work ethic would influence the lives of thousands of children.

Describing the teachers as the state’s “intellectual assets”, Soren urged them to take quality education to the remotest corners of Jharkhand.

‘Be the Eyes, Ears and Hands of the Government’

The Chief Minister said the teachers would now serve as the “eyes, ears and hands” of the government and reminded them that their responsibilities extended beyond classrooms.

He also warned against any form of mistreatment of children in schools, saying the government would take strict action if incidents of brutality or inhuman behaviour came to light.

Teachers, he said, should create a positive social environment and treat every child with sensitivity and dignity.

Schools of Excellence Changing Perceptions

Highlighting reforms in the education sector, Soren said the Mukhyamantri Utkrisht Vidyalaya (Schools of Excellence) initiative had changed public perception of government schools.

Launched in 2021, the schools now receive over 40,000 applications for around 9,000 to 10,000 seats, reflecting growing public confidence in government-run institutions, he said.

The Chief Minister also noted that more than 200 science teachers were among those appointed, addressing a long-standing shortage in government schools.

During the event, Soren also virtually launched the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training programme for teachers of Classes 6 to 12, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

New Teachers Share Their Joy

Several newly appointed teachers shared their experiences during the ceremony.

Sita Kumari from Ranchi said she had finally secured the opportunity after a 22-year wait and promised to serve with honesty and dedication.

Manoj Kumar Vaidya thanked the Chief Minister, saying he had benefited from the government’s recruitment drive.

Pradeep Kumar Yadav recalled that his mother had preserved the newspaper carrying the recruitment results and was delighted that the selection process had been conducted transparently without any bribery.

The event was attended by Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, senior officials, the newly appointed teachers and their family members.
