Ranchi, Sept 21: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday paid rich tributes to late journalist Ravi Prakash (48), who died yesterday after a prolonged illness.

He placed a wreath on the body of Ravi Prakash kept at the Ranchi Press Club.
Ravi Prakash, who had been battling fourth-stage lung cancer succumbed to the disease on Friday afternoon while undergoing treatment at a Mumbai hospital. Ranchi-based Prakash, associated with BBC, has been suffering from lung cancer since January 2021 when it was diagnosed at an advanced stage.

Soren expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “The demise of senior journalist Ravi Prakash, who made invaluable contributions to the field of journalism, is a painful and irreparable loss to the journalism world.”

The chief minister lauded Ravi Prakash’s dedication to journalism, emphasizing that his legacy should continue to inspire future generations. “His commitment to journalism set a high standard, and it will be remembered,” Soren added.
Soren also met with Ravi Prakash’s family to offer condolences, praying for strength and peace for the bereaved family. He extended his heartfelt sympathies and wished for the departed soul’s peace.
Ravi Prakash was later cremated at Harmu Muktidham.
Among those present to pay their respects were Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, Ranchi DC Rahul Kumar Sinha, SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha, City SP Raj Kumar Mehta, along with other social workers and journalists.
