Ranchi, May 22: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a 520-bed multi-storey hostel for Scheduled Tribe students on the premises of the Tribal College Hostel Complex in Karamtoli, Ranchi.

Speaking at the event, he reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring a better future for the state’s students, promising to provide all necessary resources to help them succeed in every field.

“We are consistently working to add new dimensions to school and college education. This hostel is a step towards that vision,” said the Chief Minister during the foundation ceremony.

Vision Taking Shape: All Hostels to be Renovated

CM Soren noted that the state government has decided to renovate all hostels under the Welfare Department. “The construction of this new hostel at the Karamtoli campus is the beginning of our larger plan. But our real joy will come when this hostel is fully functional and tribal students from across the state shift in with dreams of a brighter future,” he added.

Students Should Focus Only on Studies, Govt Will Address Their Needs

Encouraging students to concentrate solely on their education, the Chief Minister assured them that the government would take care of their concerns.

He announced that hostel residents would no longer need to bring rice, pulses, or other food items from home, as the government will provide nutritious meals three times a day. Arrangements will also be made for cooks, security personnel, and all necessary academic resources.

Govt Support for Competitive Exams and Higher Education

Highlighting the competitive nature of today’s world, CM Soren said the state government is extending full support to students preparing for competitive exams and pursuing courses in medical, engineering, and law.

Under the Guruji Credit Card Yojana, students can avail loans up to ₹15 lakh without any collateral to fund higher education. He also emphasized the availability of coaching and resources for civil services aspirants.

“We are addressing existing shortcomings, and our government institutions are proving to be better than many private ones,” he said, citing the recent success of students from CM Schools of Excellence who scored over 90% in board exams.

Grand Libraries to Open in All Districts

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also announced the opening of grand libraries named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in every district of the state.

“These libraries will be equipped with all kinds of books and magazines. The government will continue to take more steps to improve the educational atmosphere in the state,” he added.

Dignitaries Present

The event was attended by Minister Chamra Linda, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, Secretaries Kripanand Jha and Arwa Rajkamal, and Tribal Welfare Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha.
