Daltonganj, August 21: Chief Minister Hemant Soren is set to visit Palamu on August 22, following the postponement of his August 21 program due to the Bharat Bandh.
Preparations for his visit are complete, with DC Shashi Ranjan and his team conducting thorough reviews to ensure readiness. The event is expected to draw 50,000 beneficiaries from Palamu, 30,000 from Garhwa, and 20,000 from Latehar as part of the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maaiyan Yojana.
This visit is politically significant for Hemant, as the Commissionerate encompasses nine assembly seats. The JMM, which currently holds no seats in Palamu and one seat each in Latehar and Garhwa, views retaining these positions as more critical than gaining additional seats.

The JMM has not actively addressed its anti-incumbency issues and holds far fewer press conferences compared to the BJP, which averages two monthly press briefings with leaders brought in from Ranchi.
This will be Hemant’s first public engagement in Palamu since his 150-day judicial custody. His appearance has notably changed, now featuring a flowing beard and hair reminiscent of ‘Guruji’. The visit comes amid the political momentum generated by the Champai Soren episode.
Political analysts are eager to hear if Hemant will address the contentious issue of Kolhan Tiger Champai Soren and what narrative the JMM will craft for the upcoming assembly elections.
