Daltonganj, April 20: A police constable from Palamu, Vivek Pandey, donated one unit of blood to help a child, Ansh Kumar, undergoing treatment at MMCH Daltonganj.

Police sources said the initiative was supported by newly appointed Palamu SP Kapil Chaudhary, who ensured timely help when the child’s parents were struggling to arrange blood.

Pandey, who has a B+ blood group, donated one unit, enabling the blood centre to provide AB+ blood required for the child, officials said.

The blood centre staff and the child’s family expressed gratitude to the constable for his timely help.

Officials noted that blood donation often declines during summer due to the perception that donating blood in hot weather causes fatigue, unlike in winter.
