Jamshedpur, April 27: In a shocking incident, a loco pilot was shot dead late Sunday night near the running room adjacent to Tatanagar railway station, triggering panic in the area.
The victim, Gyanendra Kumar Gautam, a resident of Adityapur in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, was allegedly targeted by unidentified assailants.

Shot Multiple Times Near Railway Premises
According to police sources, the incident took place around midnight when Gautam was heading towards the railway lobby to report for duty.

Two attackers, believed to be waiting in ambush, arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire at close range. Gautam sustained multiple gunshot injuries, including a fatal shot to the chest, and died on the spot.
The sudden firing caused panic among people in the vicinity. Senior police officials, including the City SP, reached the scene soon after the incident.
The area was cordoned off, and security was tightened.
CCTV Footage Under Scan, Raids Underway
Initial reports suggest that the attackers fled towards the Bagbera area after carrying out the crime.
Police teams are examining CCTV footage from nearby locations and conducting raids to identify and arrest the accused.
The incident has raised concerns among railway staff and residents. Police said all possible angles are being investigated and expressed confidence that the accused will be arrested soon.
