Dhanbad, June 11: A person identified as Bhola Das (50) was hacked to death by an axe in a water dispute in Kharni village under Topchachi police station, around 40 km away from the district headquarters on Tuesday afternoon.
A police official said the incident took place at around 3 pm. Bhola Das was going to Katras on his bike when assailant Deendayal along with his family members attacked and hacked him to death with an axe.
Son of victim Hiradas said that a few months ago his family had a dispute over water with the Deendayal family. The government supply line was also damaged in the dispute. A case was also lodged in this connection.

“Today my father (Bhola Das) had taken bail from the court in the morning and was going to Katras by bike when Deendayal along with family members attacked him and hacked him to death,” he said.
The assailants also seriously injured the wife of the victim, Kamta Devi, who rushed to rescue her husband.
Two arrested
Getting information, Topchachi police station officer in-charge Sanjay Kumar reached the spot and recovered the axe used in the crime. Deendayal and his sons fled after the incident. Police arrested two female members from the accused’s house and sent the body for post-mortem.
“Police are investigating the incident and legal action will be taken against the accused,” said Sanjay Kumar.
