Ranchi, April 16: The Excise Department of Jharkhand has recorded its highest-ever revenue collection in 2025–26, generating ₹4,013.53 crore and surpassing the previous high of ₹2,700 crore, according to a press release issued by the public relations department.

‘Testament to efficiency, strict monitoring’

Describing the achievement as historic, the department said in the release that the surge reflects “administrative efficiency and a strict monitoring mechanism.” It added that the growth was driven by action against illicit manufacture, transportation and sale of liquor, along with improved transparency in licensing and the adoption of technological reforms.

Digital tracking, policy changes boost collections

The release highlighted that strengthening digital tracking systems helped improve monitoring of liquor supply and sales, while sustained enforcement drives curbed illegal trade and revenue leakage.

It further noted that revisions in licensing fees and excise duties under the new Excise Policy, along with increased transparency and competition in liquor outlet operations, played a key role in boosting revenue.

The department said the record collection has provided a strong boost to the state’s finances.
