Dhanbad, April 22: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy today said that his party Bhartiya Jantantra Morcha (BJM) will fight the election from the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat. A five-member committee formed for the purpose will announce the name of the candidate in 24 hours.
Talking to media persons here at a hostel in Saraidhela on Monday afternoon Roy said that since he is himself an interested candidate from Dhanbad, he has not supported Congress candidate Anupma Singh and only blessed her to contest against Dhulu Mahto of BJP.
“If the five-member committee of BJM selects me to contest from Dhanbad, I will fight elections,” he said.

The five members of the BJM committee are Central Committee president Dharmendra Tiwari, vice-president PN Singh, secretary R Sheetal Munda, Dhanbad president Uday Kumar, Bokaro president Pankaj Roy.
Saryu Roy alleged that Jharkhand BJP has given wrong information to Election Commission about its Dhanbad candidate Dhulu Mahto. “BJP general secretary has informed that only 19 cases are pending against its Dhanbad candidate Dhullu Mahto and only in two cases he has been convicted. But, the senior superintendent of police in 2022 had submitted a report in Jharkhand High Court saying that 43 cases are pending against Mahto and in four cases he has been convicted,” said Roy.
Roy said some of the charges levelled under various sections of CrPC are serious in nature, which can land Dhulu Mahto in jail for five to 10 years.
