Daltonganj, April 4: Externment of two ‘characters’ are in Palamu.

The proposal for 9 more externments is with the DC.

Section 3 of the Jharkhand Control of Crimes Act enjoins upon a character to remove himself outside the district and not to enter the same district from where removed during the period of externment which is not exceeding 6 months.

The IG of the police Palamu zone, Narendra Kumar Singh, is monitoring the pre-poll readiness and preparation of the police for the conduct of the voting.

Palamu police zone has two polling dates

This police zone has two polling dates. May 13 is for the Palamu Lok Sabha seat, while May 20 is for the Chatra Lok Sabha constituency, which includes the whole of the Panki assembly constituency in Palamu as well as two constituencies of the Latehar district.

The IG told this correspondent that Jharkhand and Bihar police have exchanged notes about the criminals, who account for 80 to 85.

The IG explained, “There are criminals of Bihar who have an address here. Likewise, criminals of Jharkhand have addresses there in Bihar. That is to be contained by the police of both sides.”

Dossier of criminals

“Our police have a complete dossier of the criminals popping in and out. We know them. They can’t get away. They are to come to laws,” said Singh.

He appreciated how NBWs (non-bailable warrants) are being executed in Palamu.

“Palamu SP Reeshma Ramesan told me today that 800 NBWs have been executed,” added the IG.

Warrants keep coming every day, and that means its numbers do not squeeze or shrink like the 450 NBWs still waiting for execution here in Palamu.

‘Level playing field’

The IG used the most popular coinage ‘level playing field’ for his two other SPs when he said, “Latehar SP Anjani (Anjani Anjan) made a big haul of cash until yesterday. It was the largest one, but when Giridih tumbled upon 1 crore of cash, Latehar stood second.”

The IG didn’t stop here. With the same breath and passion, he praised Garhwa SP Deepak Pandey, saying the latter made stunning recoveries like Ak 47, Insaas rifle, and other weapons. The Garhwa SP got caught the ultra who had made a bid on the life of a police officer, reminded the IG.

Illicit liquor

The IG came to know of youths making or selling illicit liquor in the contiguity of the Nav Ketan Cinema Hall and in the surrounding alleys where these illicit liquor-associated youths pose problems to girls, pass sexual comments, ask for vital statistics of the girls and sometimes troll them.

These brazen illicit liquor-associated youths bully parents, too. They shout and abuse their parents. They try to pick up quarrels with the parents by provoking them to react.

The IG said, “I have ordered the officer in charge of the town police station, Deobrata Poddar, to contain this episode of eve-teasing as under no circumstances is eve-teasing to be tolerated.” He said it is to be curbed.

The officer in charge, Poddar, has been further directed to report the action taken to the IG.

The IG has asked for female cops in plainclothes with men in uniform to reign in the misbehaviour or misconduct of the illicit liquor-associated youths in the backyard of the Nav Ketan Cinema Hall and in other small alleys and open spaces there.
