Dhanbad, May 9: 25 candidates have remained in the race for the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat and poll symbols were allotted to them on Thursday.

District Returning Officer (RO) cum Dhanbad deputy commissioner Madhvi Mishra while talking with media persons today at the collectorate said that a total of 28 candidates had filed nomination papers for the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat in which the application of three candidates was rejected in scrutiny.
“Today (May 9) was the last date of withdrawal of nomination paper till 3. PM. But no candidate withdrew his name at a scheduled time. So, a symbol of all candidates was allotted today in the presence of general observer Anup Khinchi. Nominees of recognised political parties were given their reserved symbol,” said Mishra.

Among 25 candidates Anupma Singh of Cong, Dhulu Mahto of Bharatiya Janata Party and Mohan Singh of Bahujan Samaj Party are recognized party nominees and were allotted party symbols of Hand, Lotus and Elephant respectively.

Twenty-two other independent candidates including Jagdish Rawani of the Marxist Co-ordination Committee have been allotted different symbols.
The first transgender candidate of the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat Sunaina Kinner has got the ‘Bread’ symbol.
