Daltonganj, May 19: Executive Engineer of the Electricity Department Santosh Kumar has appealed to residents not to dump garbage beneath transformer poles, warning that the practice poses a serious threat to both public safety and electrical infrastructure.

Burning garbage poses danger to transformers
Kumar said garbage accumulated near transformers is often set on fire, and sparks from the burning waste can easily reach the transformers, creating a major risk of damage and electrical accidents.
“Garbage dumped beneath transformers is hazardous for both life and the environment,” the executive engineer said.

Transformer areas highly sensitive
He pointed out that almost every transformer location has become a dumping spot even though areas beneath transformers are highly sensitive due to the presence of electricity infrastructure.
The electricity department has urged people to maintain cleanliness around transformer sites and avoid burning waste near electrical installations to prevent accidents and disruptions in power supply.
Officials said public awareness and cooperation are essential to ensure safety and protect electricity infrastructure from avoidable damage.
