Ranchi, January 6: Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Tuesday directed officials to explore employment opportunities for Agniveers in the state police and other services while chairing the 17th Management Committee meeting of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare at Lok Bhawan.

War Memorial, Albert Ekka Village in Focus
The Governor asked officials to develop the Jharkhand War Memorial at Dipatoli as a tourist destination and to turn the ancestral village of Param Vir Chakra awardee Lance Naik Albert Ekka into a model village, stating that he plans to visit it soon.
New Sainik School Proposed
The meeting discussed opening another Sainik School in Jharkhand, with the Directorate proposing Godda as a possible location. Enhancing financial assistance to martyrs’ dependents was also taken up.

Agniveer Rehabilitation Plan
The Governor directed departments to carry out a proper assessment of Agniveers returning to Jharkhand after completion of service and to seriously consider their absorption in the police, security forces and other service sectors. He also instructed officials to expedite pending personal or administrative matters of soldiers visiting the state on leave.
Training for Tribal Youth
Noting the strong interest of tribal youth in military service, the Governor said the feasibility of setting up a dedicated training centre should be examined to provide better opportunities in the armed forces.
Infrastructure, Fund Reforms
Officials informed the meeting that the Sainik Market and Sainik Theatre, built around four decades ago, require redevelopment with support from JUDCO. Discussions were also held on strengthening the Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Corporation Fund by studying models from other states.
