Ranchi, March 28: Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Saturday congratulated graduating students at the convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi, held in the presence of Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan.

Addressing the students, the Governor described the occasion as a significant milestone marking the culmination of their hard work, discipline, and dedication. He encouraged them to become not only successful professionals but also responsible citizens contributing to society and nation-building.

Focus on Values and Leadership

Gangwar said that IIM Ranchi has established itself as one of the country’s premier management institutions, playing a key role in promoting ethical values, leadership skills, and social responsibility alongside academic excellence.

He also appreciated the institute’s initiatives, such as the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Centre for Policy, Leadership and Governance and the Centre for Tribal Affairs, named after Bhagwan Birsa Munda, noting their contribution to inclusive development and good governance.

Call for Ethical Decision-Making

Highlighting the challenges and opportunities in today’s global environment, the Governor urged students to prioritise ethics, transparency, and human values in their careers. He advised them to strive not only for success but also for excellence rooted in strong moral principles.

“While becoming a good manager is important, becoming a good human being is even more significant,” he said.

India’s Growth and Role of Youth

The Governor noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is progressing rapidly and has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy, moving towards becoming the third-largest. He emphasised that young professionals will play a crucial role in this transformation.

Vice President’s Presence Highlighted

Welcoming Vice President Radhakrishnan, Gangwar said his presence added significance to the ceremony and noted his strong connection with Jharkhand.

He also mentioned Amit Khare, Secretary to the Vice President, acknowledging his contributions during his tenure in Jharkhand and at the Centre.

The Governor concluded by extending his best wishes to the students for a bright future, urging them to pursue excellence while upholding human values.
