Dhanbad, July 22: The state government has cancelled the deputation of 11 medical officers, including the Jharkhand Health Services Association (JHSA) state secretary at Deoghar-Dumka Shravani Mela and replaced them with other 11 medicos from different districts.

200 doctors deployed in Shravani Mela

The government had deployed a total of 200 doctors on deputation in the month-long (July 22 to August 19) Deoghar-Dumka (Basukinath) Shravani Mela from all 22 districts in two phases i.e. July 22 to August 5 and August 5 to August 19.

The highest number of 19 medical officers of Ranchi were put on deputation followed by Bokaro 13, Dhanbad 12 and other districts.

The doctors whose deputation has been cancelled are Dr Rajkumar (Kanke) Ranchi, Dr Arun Kumar Sharma, Simdega, Dr Ashutosh Tigga, Khunti, Dr Shubham Kumar Choudhary, Dhanbad, Dr Ajit Kumar, Ranchi, Dr Sadaf Ishrat, Hazaribagh, Dr Thakur Mritunjay Kumar Singh, Bokaro, Dr Aniket ( Khunti, Dr Neeraj Jolo, Dhanbad, Dr Pranay Toppo, Lohardaga, and Dr Jitendra Kumar Mahli, Ramgarh.

Cancellation of JHSA Secretary’s deputation raises controversy

Meanwhile, the cancellation of JHSA secretary Dr Thakur Mritunjay Kumar Singh’s deputation (CHC Chas Bokaro) has triggered controversy in the health department of the state.

A section of medical officers said that the state government adopted a pick-and-choose policy in placing doctors in month-long Shravani Mela deputation.

A medical officer said that the cancellation of the deputation of Ranchi Sadar Hospital laparoscopic surgeon Dr Ajit Kumar is justified as he has no role in Deoghar – Dumka Shravani Mela. “No devotee will require surgery during the mela. However, the cancellation of the JHSA secretary’s deputation is not justified. It has been done only to extend him a favour,” said a medical officer requesting anonymity.
