THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Ranchi, Dec. 26: Dr Ramdayal Munda Tribal Welfare Research Institute, a Jharkhand government entity, is launching free (non-residential) ‘Santali Language Coaching’ for the boys and girls of the Scheduled Tribe community for the preparation of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and equivalent competitive examinations.

This coaching programme related to the competitive examination is about four months. Till now, 30 students have enrolled in it.

Objective

The objective of this programme is to help the students of the Scheduled Tribes category succeed in the competitive examinations of the Union Public Service Commission in the ‘Santali’ language included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

Because of the peculiarities of the Santali language syllabus, candidates from other language courses are likely to score more marks. The speciality of the Santali language included in the 8th Schedule is that the participants from communities like Mundari, Ho, Khadiya, Asuri, Birhori, Birjia, Swasi, etc., who speak the languages of the Mundari language family, do not have any difficulty in preparing because their mother tongue is similar to Santali.

Additional classes

In this coaching programme, separate additional classes will also be conducted for the participants of non-Mundari language families so that they can quickly learn the Santali language and get involved in preparing its curriculum as soon as possible.

For the ‘Santali Language Coaching’ being conducted in the institute, the curriculum will be prepared by lecturers like Dumani Mai Murmu, Assistant Professor of Santali Language Department of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Dr Francis C. Murmu and Dr Santosh Murmu.

Coaching for JPSC exams

Notably, the institute will start two more coaching programmes in the second week of January. These are “Free Non-Residential Programme” for the preparation of competitive examinations of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) for the youth of Scheduled Tribe and “Free Residential Coaching” for the youth of Very Vulnerable Tribal Communities (PVTG) for various competitive examinations of the state.
